Oberon Zell is a modern-day Wizard, and Elder in the worldwide magickal community. For more than 50 years, Oberon has written and published countless articles and several books and is known for the best-selling Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard(New Page Books, 2004).

In 2004, Zell became Headmaster and founded the Grey School of Wizardry, an online school for learning the magickal arts. With dozens of highly-qualified teachers, the Grey School offers more than 500 unique classes on myth, magick and mystery. Lee Prosser from Fate Magazine refers to Oberon as “the real Albus Dumbledore to aspiring Harry Potters!”

Oberon received his B.A. (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and Pre-Med) from Westminster College in 1965, attended graduate school at Washington University on a scholarship in Clinical Psychology, received a Doctor of Divinity from Life Science College in 1967, and earned his Teacher’s Certificate from Harris Teacher’s College in 1968.

Inspired by Robert A. Heinlein’s prophetic science-fiction novel, Stranger in a Strange Land (1961), Oberon co-founded the Church of All Worlds on April 7, 1962. An initiate in several different mystical traditions, he has founded and participated in many Pagan ecumenical groups and projects, including the Council of Themis, the Council of Earth Religions, the Universal Federation of Pagans, the Papal Apology Project, the Pagan Leaders Summit, the Grey Council, and the Sonoma County Pagan Network.

Oberon has played a major role in the founding and unification of the Pagan community, and in reclaiming the Earth/Nature-based spiritual heritage of pre-Christian Europe. In his award-winning magazine, Green Egg(1968-), he was the first to adopt the terms “Pagan” and “Neo-Pagan” to describe the newly-emerging Nature religions of the 1960s. The Neo-Pagan “Green Religion” is now considered to be the fastest-growing spiritual movement in the English-speaking world, claiming more than five million adherents worldwide. And Oberon is acknowledged as one of its founding Elders: “The Father of Neo-Paganism.”

In 1970, Oberon articulated the premise that all life on Earth is a single vast living Being, known as “Mother Earth,” or “Gaea” to the ancient Greeks. His initial paper, “TheaGenesis,” was published in Green Eggin 1971, two years before British atmospheric biochemist James Lovelock first presented his “Gaia Hypothesis” to the scientific community. Oberon’s theology of “deep ecology” has been universally embraced throughout the Pagan and New Age communities.

In addition to the usual cats, they shared their lives with giant snakes, lizards, deer, a feral pig, several possums, a great horned owl, a golden pheasant, green herons, rats, Guinea pigs, and most famously, authentic living Unicorns. Each of these were real characters, and Oberon will share their amusing stories.

Return of the Witch's Goddess

In earth-centered spirituality, and the teachings of the feminine face of God in many main stream contemporary religions, there is a reemergence of the Goddess in to the world. This has awakened in 60-year cycles going back to the Italian Renaissance of the 1480s. Common themes have emerged in each—foremost among them being a resurrection of classical Pagan elements in the arts, poetry, music, literature, drama, ritual and spirituality. The Return of the Goddess was a major focus for artists and poets, who claimed Her patronage as Muse. The next cycle in the 2020s, has Goddess spirituality coming back again and re-emerging throughout the world. We will discuss and share what to expect this time around. How will it impact the world and history this time. Guaranteed to be a lively discussion.

Please plan to arrive by 6:30-6:45 pm to check in. Shoes cannot be worn into the temple but you will be given bag in which to put them for workshop.

Paganism in Today's World -

with Oberon Zell

Paganism was the spiritual practices the people of the country side believed that included honoring the land they lived on as a living spirit. This included the trees, rivers, oceans, animals and all that was a living life force and their relationship with humanity.

The recent Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies are only a few ways in which Paganism as impacted the popular culture–especially the next generation.  Oberon will lead an informal interactive forum-style discussion about modern Pagans, their history, and future. Come prepared with questions, issues, ideas, to discuss.

Please plan to arrive by 6:30-6:45 pm to check in. Shoes cannot be worn into the temple but you will be given bag in which to put them for workshop.

Currently, he is on his own indefinite walkabout, driving across the country to meet with people.  It is wonderful Salem is part of that journey.

Friday, October 26 • 7:00 – 9:00pm

Awakening into Quantum Consciousness

Join Oberon Zell for an evening presentation investigation The Gaea Thesis. This asserts that our planetary biosphere is a single vast living organism, known to all peoples as Mother Earth. Such a complex organism must also possess a concomitant global consciousness, which many feel is on the verge of Awakening. But is Gaea really the greatest level of consciousness beyond our own? How many layers of consciousness are there?

The latest developments in quantum theory suggest that nothing above the level of the primordial quantum field has any physical reality at all. Rather, biocentrism and simulation theory propose that the world of our experience is an emergent and evolving simulation, much like 2nd Life, or the Matrix, in which we temporarily inhabit very realistic avatars. Only consciousness itself is truly real and eternal. Let’s consider the implications…for magick, theology, and immortality.

Please plan to arrive by 6:30-6:45 pm to check in. Shoes cannot be worn into the temple but you will be given bag in which to put them for workshop.
